Description Vidar Braut Haarr 2005-08-22 19:41:22 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu

1. Open a file browser to a directory where you do not have write permission.
2. Right click some item there and notice that the Cut", "Paste", "Create Link",
"Rename", etc, actions are greyed out.
3. Middle-click, drag, and release the same item there and notice that "Move
here", "Copy here" and "Create Link here" are not greyed out.

Expected results:
All the items should be greyed out.

Christian Neumair raised the concern that "I just fear users will not grasp why
we display a popup which just contains disabled icons." in bug 314065 comment
11. And suggested that we just not drag-highlight on a read-only folder.

Another visual hint would be to replace the icon of the entity being dragged
with an icon such as
<http://jimmac.musichall.cz/wipicons/gtk-stock/dialog-error4.png> (a stop sign).
Comment 1 Fabio Bonelli 2006-05-22 18:56:50 UTC
Issue described in point 2 is now fixed, the point 3 is still valid.
Comment 2 Vidar Braut Haarr 2006-05-26 13:03:06 UTC
There is only 1 issue reported here. The 1-3 numbers are steps to reproduce the bug.
Comment 3 Fabio Bonelli 2006-05-26 13:13:13 UTC
Sure, sorry, I've misread point 2.
Comment 4 William Jon McCann 2012-09-11 02:11:33 UTC
I can't reproduce this with master. Is this still an issue?
Comment 5 António Fernandes 2013-06-09 15:26:02 UTC
I can't reproduce this either, running nautilus 3.8. Directories without write permissions are not accepted as drop targets.

Closing this bug report as no further information has been provided. Please feel free to reopen this bug if this is still an issue. Thanks!
