Description Ronald Bos 2005-08-20 12:31:46 UTC
Version details: 2.10.2
Distribution/Version: Arch

I use gnome-panel 2.10.2 on Arch Linux.
I start in runlevel 3 (no gdm) and use 'startx' to start my gnome session.
Now every time I login I see a dialog that says:

"I've detected a panel already running, and will now exit".

Then I have to fire up the session preference panel and delete one of the panels
there before this message disappears.

Apparently, I am not the only one with this problem; see for example:

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=13686&highlight=gnome+panel

The Gentoo guys already have some 'fix' somewhere, may be helpful:

http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=63124

Good luck, I hope this report is helpful. Keep up the good work guys, gnome is
just lovely.
