GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 313162
use file NAME in window title, not just file TITLE
Last modified: 2005-08-11 04:30:47 UTC
As you can see in the attachment, using just file's TITLE is confusing most of the time. Here I have two files bonus.xsl and bonus.pdf, and PDF export of that xsl. I opened bonus.pdf and I see bonus.xsl in the window TITLE.
Created attachment 50538 [details] bonux.pdf opened in evince You can see the title of window is bonus.xsl. First I thought that I opened the wrong file. But found out that's evince mistake.
I don't call that "evince's mistake", but the PS/PDF generators fault. Maybe extend the .dvi handling to rip out [.][a-zA-Z]{2,4}$
OK, take this one. I have a pdf name x.pdf with title "XYZ". Know I convert it to ps. It's title remains "XYZ" and the file name is x.ps. Then I open one of them with GNOME. I notice a mistake and corect it in say openoffice-writer. I build .pdf again and go to evince. But I cannot see any diffrence with last view!!! Because it's the .ps one not the .pdf and user won't understand it! At least show file name in paranthesis. (if the file has a title)
Let's discuss window title in one bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 312847 ***
