GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 312270
Wallpaper/Desktop drawing problem
Last modified: 2005-09-02 05:17:29 UTC
Version details: Garnome Distribution/Version: Gentoo The wallpaper (and toolbars, desktop etc) seem to jump about an amount of pixels up or down every time it has to redraw the desktop. What may be happening is a broken bitblt or something before after or before it redraws the bit of the wallpaper that it needs to redraw. This occurs different amounts and directions for every wallpaper I choose, and for tiled wallpapers it seems to tile parts of the screen like the toolbars and icons. I will attach screenshots showing the problem. Occasionally I can make it stop by selecting wallpaper A, then selecting a different wallpaper (wallpaper B), then selecting None. It will show wallpaper B on the desktop. This method of fixing it will only work if I choose certain wallpapers as wallpaper B (Gnome branded foot is one). I'm using Garnome 2.11.90, X Window System Version 6.8.2, Radeon drivers, Kernel 2.6.12-gentoo-r1. This didn't seem to occur in a remote Xnest, gnome-terminal with transparency turned on or in a vnc session of 1024x768. My resolution is 1280x1024. I'm not sure whether nautilus is the correct place to put this bug,.. maybe GTK or even X is the problem? Since garnome uses an install inside my home, maybe there is a library/linking problem or incompatibility.
Created attachment 50092 [details] Basic screenshot showing the problem
Created attachment 50093 [details] Tiled background
Created attachment 50094 [details] I moved the window left, up, right then down. If anyone wants the images I used as wallpaper to examine, I can provide them.
The screenshots look a lot like the ones on bug 306216. Could you tell us what version of cairo you are using and/or try to reproduce this with the latest version?
