Please describe the problem:
As well - and far more dangerous - when you create new folders in the remote
directories with Nautilus, they are 
created with chmod 777 - read/write/execute permissions for the entire world.

what mode are you expecting?

Mode 755 would probably be a sane default

After applying a patch for bug 314642, the parent's permissions will be
inherited  (rationale: bug 45889). Are you OK with that as well?
