Description Farhad 2005-07-07 06:31:43 UTC
Currently in Nautilus copying files from one location to another results in
copying from the "Last" file in the selected list of files. The problem with
this approach is explained in the following scenario:

- User has Video files from episode 1 to episode 5
- User copies the files from DVD to harddrive
- Current Nautilus Copy process copies episodes in this order: 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1
(because by default the file names are sorted in an Ascending format).
- Consequence: The user has to wait until the copy process is 100% complete
before he/she can proceed with viewing Episode 1 or 2. In ther words copy
sequence goes takes place in reverse order.

This behavior has the greatest negative impact on files that need to be accessed
(by the user) in a sequential manner. Default sorting modes for displaying files
have an "Ascending" format which puts the files that need to be accessed from
first to last in a top to bottom fashion in the Nautilus window. However current
"file copying" behavior results in the -first- item to be the -last- item that
gets copied to the destination location.

I should have emphasized more that this happens when "multiple" files are
selected by the user and copied.
