Description Stanislav Brabec 2005-06-24 11:18:03 UTC
Version details: gtk2-2.6.8
Distribution/Version: SuSE Linux 9.3 AMD64

1. Have a directory over NFS with 10000 files.
2. Open a file requester (e. g. as attach file in Evolution).
3. Ctrl+L
4. Enter complete name of file.
5. Press Open.

Current behavior:
Return to file selector, then 2 minutes delay, then file list appears, then you
have to click Open again.

Expected behavior:
Open/Attach file immediately, without browsing remote directory.
Either implement some intelligence, or have two buttons in Ctrl+L dialog - Open
directly and Open in file selector.

This is actually two bugs: the speed issue, and the "open directly" issue.
I'll mark it as a duplicate of the "open directly" bug.

For performance problems, see bug #166601, bug #302322, bug #154394.
