GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 308292
maximize vertical occaisionally does a full maximize
Last modified: 2005-06-20 00:33:25 UTC
Please describe the problem: i usually bind alt-f10 to toggle maximize, and then i set either alt-shift-f10 or alt-f11 to maximize vertical. quite regularly i find that the maximize vertical keystroke ends up executing a full maximize. but if i then use the maximize toggle key, it goes back the maximize vertical state--so it's as if the maximize verical key is somehow doing a maximize vertical, followed by a toggle maximize. while this tends to happen more often than not, every now and then, it works as it should. but i have yet to work out what was different. i've seen this happen with gnome 2.10 in gentoo, fedora core 4 and ubuntu, so i've decided it's probably not a distribution issue. Steps to reproduce: 1. assign a keystroke for maximize vertical 2. use that keystroke for different apps like gnome-terminal and firefox Actual results: more often than not, the result is as if i did maximize full, not maximize vertical. Expected results: maximize vertical Does this happen every time? no, but more often than not. Other information: see bug 113601 for the request to have a maximize vertical (and horizontal) toggle. also, it would be really really nice, if you could middle click on on the maximize button to get the maximize vertical (and right click for maximize horizontal). almost every other window manager has that, and it's very useful when you normally drive with the mouse.
Fixed in CVS; we need to get out a release with that and other recent fixes. The toggle partial-maximize ability is still an open issue in bug 113601. (Also, I'm not aware of a separate bug report for the feature request of middle/right click on the maximize button; feel free to file such a bug so we don't lose it) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 302204 ***
added a separate bug (bug 308293) for the middle/right click feature request
