GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 307962
gnome's preferences don't make it easy to open an external link in a new tab
Last modified: 2005-07-31 13:34:39 UTC
In gaim, we are currently using gnome-open if we detect that gaim is being run in inside gnome. Many people are complaining about this because it means that links do not get opened in a tab in their existing browser. While apparently some browsers have an option to force such external links to be opened in a new tab, I do not think this should be necessary, rather the environment should offer a way to uniformly handle this. This is almost certainly not the correct way to file this bug, I appologize for that in advance, but I was unsure what component to file it against.
Trying another product.. Disagree with the preference. How should GNOME know some app has a special command line to open in a new tab? Belongs in the app.
