Description Shaya Potter 2005-06-06 23:03:55 UTC
I'd personally like it if evince was more acrobat like in it's ability to "pick"
text as well as scroll. i.e on my laptop I like to scroll with a mouse button.
With acrobat all I have to do is click and scroll as it divides text "picking"
and scrolling into 2 different actions that are available at different times.

Evince however has them available at the same time, but with 2 different mouse
buttons. It be nicer if it were similiar to acrobat that a user could select
either mode when they need them.

We also need mouse button for gestures.

How does that work exactly? When one action is selected, when the other?

yes, there are buttons in the button bar that define the function of the left
(default really, as I guess its opposite for lefties) mouse button.

the default is a hand (for grabbing page and scrolling.

one can select a text picker, which will let you select text for copying (with
knowledge of the structure, ala word, can't select a visual block in the middle.

you can select the snapshot tool, which is the same as xpdf's default action
lets you drag an elasticy rectangle and copy the contents of that rectangle.

We had a bug around for a while that was asking for mouse modes. Ah, found it!
bug 165155 This is probably a duplicate of that.
