GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 306270
sound preview crashes nautilus over samba
Last modified: 2009-03-13 16:01:32 UTC
This bug has been opened here: https://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/11305 "hover over an ogg file on a remote samba share. expected: music plays actual: nautilus crashes immediately or opens the home folder, closing the current window for comparison, an ssh connection to the same server played the sound preview correctly."
Maybe you could ask the user to get an usable stack trace of the crash?
Additional comment from the user: I cannot repeat the crash, although the behaviour is still faulty: instead of a crash, when I hover over a samba share mp3 file with remote sound preview switched on, Nautilus jumps to my home page. There is no additional error on this happening, when running nautilus from command line. This is the only output I get while reproducing the bug: jack@annecy:~$ nautilus ** (nautilus:11145): WARNING **: No description found for mime type "x-directory/smb-share" (file is "test%20share"), please tell the gnome-vfs mailing list. If I can get it to crash, I'll send the stack trace as I now have the dbg packages installed. Could I make a suggestion: before relase, only provide unstripped binaries.
I cannot reproduce this and the bug in Ubuntu has been closed for years : https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/17590 Feel free to reopen if needed.
