GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 304851
gthumb fails To Import Pictures From Kodak DC290
Last modified: 2006-09-27 13:17:55 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu/Hoary We got this from an Ubuntu user (see https://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=8832): I have a Kodak DC290 camera that is fairly well supported by the gphoto2 library, which I assume that the hotplug camera importing utility is using. Here is a printout of the support that the DC290 has in gphoto2: ~$ gphoto2 --camera "Kodak DC290" -a Abilities for camera : Kodak DC290 Serial port support : yes USB support : yes Transfer speeds supported : : 9600 : 19200 : 38400 : 57600 : 115200 Capture choices : : Capture not supported by the driver Configuration support : no Delete files on camera support : yes File preview (thumbnail) support : yes File upload support : no Everything is supported except for file upload and configuration, both of which I would expect should be required to simply import my photos using the hotplug utility. Here's the exact problem I am getting when I plug in the camera: Warning: Import photos fram camera? <click on "Import Photos"> Import Photos: Destination: </home/cmcgee/PICS> Keep original filenames <check> ... Error: "The filesystem doesn't support getting file information" The import button isn't greyed-out with the error, which I would expect. But most importantly, I get the error, which prevents me from importing the pictures. I did a quick google search and the exact error text appears to be from gphoto2 but I know that I can use gtkam with the camera and import the photos into my pictures directory. As a workaround I just use gtkam but it would be nice to use out-of-the-box Ubuntu GNOME stuff with hotplug support.

Does this still happen? It might be related to bug 160232.
