Description Stephen Osborn 2005-05-17 02:03:52 UTC
Distribution/Version: XP Pro SP2

This error only appears to happen when using my Logitech Optical Mouse with
scroll wheel.

Start Gimp. Select File then Open. From the left hand pane, select a
drive/partition by double-clicking on it. Move to the files/folders displayed in
the middle pane. Move the scroll wheel in either direction. The following error
is generated:

Pango-ERROR**.file shape.c line 75 (pango_shape): assertion failed:
(glyphs-><num_glyphs>0) aborting...

I should also mention that this only appears to happen when selecting a partion
as opposed to a root drive, if that makes sense.

This is quite repeatable and makes Gimp unusable for me since the partition it
is bombing on is where all of my images are. You are welcome to contact me if
required.

It might be notable that I am running an AMD 64 2800+ w/1024GB memory. Then
again, maybe not. I am running GTK+ 2.6.7 as well as a number of other apps
including Apache 2.0.53

Priority should have been marked HIGH.

Loaded Gimp ver 2.2.7 for windows on a P4-2K with 512mb ram and Geforce Fx 5200
video card. I get the same error message when I tried to open an image file with
file-open----error. The error forces the program to shut down. Unable to use the
program.

Unfortunately there seem to be several different issues that can produce this
error message, but the most common seems to be font problems. Some people have
found that changing the GIMP theme from "default" to "small" makes the problem
stop happening. Please give this a try and let us know if it works for you.
