GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 303689
Device Icons not placed properly when detected by HAL on GNOME Desktop
Last modified: 2005-05-10 18:51:25 UTC
Please describe the problem: When a CD is inserted, the system automatically mounts it (this is good). Afterwards, an icon on the GNOME desktop for the CD device pops up (which is also good). The icon, however, is not placed properly and somtimes overlapps on other icons. This then forces me to manually place it somewhere on the desktop (which is a little annoying but not detrimental at all). Steps to reproduce: 1. Insert a CD into your CD/DVD Rom and let gnome detect it. 2. Look at your desktop the icon should appear there and you will have to manually move it. 3. Actual results: Please See above Expected results: I would expect to see my brand new device (represented by the brand new icon on the desktop) to be aligned properly and not overlap. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: I hope I do not sound anal about this. I just feel that this is one step close to a more complete and polished desktop. I sometimes feel that it is all about the details and the little things.
