GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 303494
Some font styles are not displayed in the text tool
Last modified: 2008-01-15 12:53:46 UTC
Please describe the problem: I use Gimp on MacOs 10.3.5. I try to select some font in the text Tool. But most of the font variants are not available. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open document 2. Click on the T tool 3. Click on the Aa button 4. Browse the font list Actual results: Most of the fonts appears without any font variants. Helvetica is without font variant. Arial does not appear, but Arial Black and Arial narrow are displayed. Sans Bold and Sans Italic are present, but the font are not bold. Expected results: Helvetica should be followed by Helvetica Bold and Hevetica Italic. Arial, Arial Bold, Arial Italic should be available. Sans Bold should create bold characters. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: I use X11 1.0.1 - XFree86 4.3.0 Copyright 2003 Apple Computer Copyright 2003 XFree86 Project
This is probably a freetype bug in being able to enumerate all the faces in a given font.
AFAIK the gimp.app package comes with outdated versions of freetype and pango. There isn't much we can do but to ask you to use recent versions of these libraries and if there are still problems, please file bug reports against them.
