GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 303028
Add new filename format (Artist - Album - Track# - Song)
Last modified: 2021-05-17 15:48:05 UTC
All of my music is stored as \Artist\Album\Artist - Album - Track# - Song.ext This is not one of the options in Sound Juicer, and the program does not allow it to be added. I beleive this is a useful way to store files because the file name tells you everything you need to know about the song in question, and almost all the useful parts of the ID3 tag can be generated simply from the file name.
You can add arbitary formats in gconf-editor in /apps/sound-juicer. The ID3 argument is void as in SJ filenames are generated from the metadata, not the other way around. I may consider adding this format in the future, but it would probably be better to implement a Custom... button in the UI.
A custom button would be preferred. Also, perhaps a mention of how you can add formats in gconf-editor in /apps/sound-juicer under the help?

I opened bug 319024 to discuss about custom file format.

Created attachment 75257 [details] [review] Adds a complete tag listing in the filename I didn't know there was a bug open for this (until a recent blog posting), as this is the track format I save to as well. A patch is attached that should get this in.
I think that a dialog for creating custom filepatterns would be good, but I know a lot of people (including myself) who like all the information stored in the name as well as tags, and I've manually had to set up gconf configs for them. I think having the complete tag info in the default install would be a good thing (is this where I put the (tm)?).
Comment on attachment 75257 [details] [review] Adds a complete tag listing in the filename Didn't you mean %ta instead of %aa?
I meant Album Artist, because that's how I mentally group my music collection: by CD. But for me Track Artist doesn't make much of a difference.
can one give a hint where to find /apps/sound-juicer (in Ubuntu 11.10), to edit the values ?
