There does not appear to be a way to paste formatted clipboard data types as
plaintext into a message window. A feature that office packages provide to
address this is "Paste Special" or "Paste Unformatted". A similar feature in
Evolution would be quite handy.

It is incredibly inconvenient when you want to copy text from a web browser and paste it into an HTML-formatted email.

Unless you run glipper or an alternative (all of which have problems, e.g. with the Gimp), then you need to start a text editor, paste into that and then recopy the text and then paste it into the Evolution compose window.
