On trying to open an image produced by a Nikon CP950, the jpeg.exe plug-in
crashes.  An example of an image that reproduces this can be found here:

But can you explain a bit more ? What's your system ? And your Gimp version ?

I've downloaded the file and opened it with Gimp 2.2 on Ubuntu Linux without any
problem.

Removing the exif data did indeed enable the file to be opened.
