GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 302247
Plug-In crashed: "jpeg.exe"
Last modified: 2008-01-15 12:53:00 UTC
Open a .jpg file created by my Olympus digital camera. Every .jpg file from my digital camera crashes the GIMP, every single one. They are all 2288x1712 pixels and they are varying sizes. They are all formatted with names like "P1010003.JPG". The error message I get is: "GIMP Message Plug-In crashed: "jpeg.exe" (C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\jpeg.exe) The dying Plug-In may have messed up GIMP's internal state. You may want to save your images and restart GIMP to be on the safe side. GIMP Message Opening 'C:\Documents and Settings\Bobby Dionne\My Documents\My Pictures\Digital Camera\Winter Break, 2004\P1010004.JPG' failed: Plug-In could not open image"
Created attachment 45769 [details] This file crashes 2.2.6 on my computer :(
It doesn't crash GIMP, just the jpeg plug-in. And unfortunately you didn't search for duplicates first... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 300186 ***
Well, that's a nitpicky detail, and I supplied the error message which is more explicit, and I did in fact search for "jpeg plugin crash" for GIMP 2.2.6, to which the search page replied "zarro boogs found". :/ So, sorry for the duplicate bug.
That's a lot more than a nitpicky detail. If GIMP crashes you may loose a lot of work. If a plug-in crashes, that's a minor problem.
Next time I find a bug I'll try to be more specific and I'll search more thoroughly beforehand. This bug report is pretty much closed.
