GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 301514
Allow frame-by-frame navigation
Last modified: 2005-04-21 23:10:00 UTC
One of my favorite features of Quicktime (standalone and browser plugin) is that when I press the left-right arrow keys the paused video moves ONE frame at a time. Currently Totem does it only for whole keyframes (and not individual frames), plus it is not "live" (I have to press "play" again to view the frame it has moved on and that's kinda useless because it moves too fast for what I want to achieve). The way Totem currently works does not help me much when I want to grab screenshots of individual, specific frames (that happen to be "clean" with no artifacts that are generated by sudden moves by the camera or actors). When I currently grab screenshots with Totem it's a bit of a hit-and-miss experience. I need more control over this, because the rest of the girls on our mailing group deserve cleaner wallpapers of our favorite actor. ;-) ;-) Please consider adding *live* frame-by-frame navigation when the user presses SHIFT+arrow left/right keys to a paused movie. Thanks!
Is this a dup of #151909?
Yes, it's a dup, but I am also interested in support from the Xine backend too, not just Gstreamer (as a comment there suggests), as I am interested in the proprietary codecs and DVD support to grab pictures from.
bug #151909 only mentions scrubbing in the subject, but also touches on the subject of frame-by-frame navigation. They are related I guess. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 151909 ***
