Distribution: Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16
Package: gedit
Severity: enhancement
Version: GNOME2.8.1 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Gentoo Linux
Synopsis: align scrollbar to the edge of the screen
Bugzilla-Product: gedit
Bugzilla-Component: general
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Please describe your feature request:

It would be much easier to scroll maximised windows if the scrollbar was
pushed up against the side of the screen.
Open mozilla firefox, or nautilus in a big directory, maximise it and
you can see that the scrollbar is right on the edge of the screen. Gedit
should follow suit.

A minor usability bug, really, though I'm shocked that this isn't the toolkit.
Comment 2 Paolo Borelli 2005-07-14 19:39:15 UTC
I don't see an easy way to this at all and, for what is worth, nor nautilus nor
firefox do it here as far as I can see (I suspect that the border depends on the
theme)
Comment 3 Luis Villa 2005-07-14 19:42:00 UTC
epiphany doesn't do it here, but nautilus does, which is the only reason I
didn't bump it to gtk. I would have guessed it was a theme thing as well, but,
well, like I said, nautilus does it here. :/ Question for desktop-devel, maybe?
Comment 4 Paolo Borelli 2005-07-14 19:51:30 UTC
looks like it depends on the metacity theme ("clearlook" gets it right while for
istance "simple" doesn't), however the issue is more complicated for gedit (and
epiphany) because of the GtkNotebook.
Comment 5 Trent "Lathiat" Lloyd 2005-07-14 19:57:32 UTC
clearlooks doesnt get it right here (works in firefox here tho)
Comment 6 Luis Villa 2005-07-14 20:08:05 UTC
Since paolo says this will be fixed when gtk is fixed, marking dup.
