Description brett 2005-03-25 02:28:23 UTC
Description of Problem:

When I receive a vcal attachment, it is not
displayed, but an error message is
displayed saying:
"The item in the calendar is not valid"
"The message does contain a calendar, but the
calendar contains no events, tasks
or free/busy information"

A little googling indicates that this message (and
the likely source of the breakage) was recently
inserted into plugins/itip-formatter/itip-formatter.c:

http://lists.ximian.com/archives/public/evolution-patches/2005-March/009909.html

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Create a meeting in the calendar
2. Add your email address to the participants
list, so you'll get the RSVP email.
3. Try to look at the email with the vCalendar
attachment

Additional Information:

This is evolution 2.2.1.1-0ubuntu1 from ubuntu
hoary main. I've also submitted a bug to the
ubuntu bugzilla. Here's the URL for
cross-reference purposes:

Test case email with vcalendar attachment

Here's a meeting I just created that exhibits the behavior in my client."

Comment 3 gboyce 2005-03-31 03:58:43 UTC
I'm seeing the same error on all invites from the Exchange 2000 server
at work. I can provide examples if needed.
Comment 4 Khasim Shaheed 2005-04-05 12:07:11 UTC
Yes i am able to replicate this problem on Evolution 2.2.1 with IMAP.
I used to get the meetings in my 'Calendar' folder but this meeting i
got in my 'Inbox'.

[Not sure which is the main bug report so deliberately cross-posting]

Although the patch has been committed, this bug still occurs for evolution-2.2.3
(Gentoo evolution-2.2.3-r3)
