Description Pierre Ossman 2005-03-18 21:19:44 UTC
Description of Problem:

When evolution tries to decrypt a message and the signature fails then the
decrypted message is not used. I suppose this is caused by blindly checking
the return value from gpg.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Get a message encrypted with one key and signed by another.
2. Make sure the decryption key is present but not the signing.
3. Evolution fails to decrypt the message.

Actual Results:

Encrypted data shown.

Expected Results:

Decrypted data shown.

How often does this happen?

Every time.

adding security keyword

workaround: install the signing cert.

Comment 3 André Klapper 2021-05-19 12:11:59 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new bug report ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
