GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 273794
Caret mode has horrible page up / down behaviour
Last modified: 2017-02-09 13:33:54 UTC
Description of Problem: If you have Caret mode turned on (F7), then if you have a long email that spans multiple pages, page up and down (the keyboard buttons) have a dreadful behaviour, the scrollbar jumps about, and if you page up and then page down, parts of the email are skipped Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Turn on Caret mode 2. Find an email that spans multiple pages, I have one with about 20 pages 3. Use Page up and down Actual Results: Parts of the email are skipped, and the scrollbar jumps horribly Expected Results: Nice smooth page up / down behaviour. How often does this happen? Everytime
I am also able to replicate this problem in the following versions of gtkhtml packages on NLD box: gtkhtml2-3.6.2.0.200505251324-0.snap.novell.0.1 libgtkhtml-2.6.1-2.1
also see bug 318973, could be related
I am sorry, but I cannot reproduce the bug with a mail that spans about 40 pages. Could you please give more details for how to reproduce? Thanks
I can't seem to reproduce this with evo 2.4 and gtkhtml 3.6.2, but comment #1 says that it can still happen with 3.6.2 ....
moving ancient 2.2 milestone to ancient 2.4 milestone. at least.
removing old target milestones
Can anyone reproduce this bug? If not, can we simply close it?
Yes, I can reproduce it. The missing step in the instructions is: 2.5. Open the message in a new window (double-click or Ctrl-O).
Bumping version to a stable release.
GtkHtml is not under active development anymore. Evolution (its main consumer) switched to a WebKit backend a while ago. It is currently unlikely that there will be any further GtkHtml development. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping (bug 778387) to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this bug report in the future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
