GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 272862
Very limited import support.
Last modified: 2006-09-29 20:27:00 UTC
Distribution: SuSE Linux 9.2 (x86-64) Package: Evolution Priority: Normal Version: GNOME2.6. 2.0.1 Gnome-Distributor: SUSE Synopsis: Very limited import support. Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Contacts [was: Addressbook] Bugzilla-Version: 2.0.1 Description: Please describe your feature request: Import from older programs only suggests Pine, Netscape, Elm, iCalendar. Import file seems to not support hidden directories where everything is found. Seems to be no support for importing from Kontact, or any way to import address and email files from Netscape, but not in a current setup. After a couple of months of use, finding the quirks of Kontact that I don't like, it would be nice to be able to switch. I went to Kontact because I was able to import my email, though with difficulty. Without email import facilities, Evolution is totally unusable for me. Unknown reporter: glsmith@quest4life.net, changed to bugbuddy-import@ximian.com. Setting qa contact to the default for this product. This bug either had no qa contact or an invalid one.
adding Partha into CC, as this bug report talks about both mailer and addressbook imports.
Added the support for importing csv and tab format files for addressbook. Almost all the programs support these two formats and can export these two formats, which can now be easily imported into evolution. Moving to mailer, email import facilities required.
changing target milestone from 2.5 to future. sorry, too many bugs, too less time.
glsmith: do the new import facilities of evolution 2.6 fulfil your needs?
