Comment 1 Thomas O'Dowd 2005-02-02 03:17:49 UTC
I submitted this bug and later worked around it with Guenther and jpr
on IRC. The problem looks like it was caused by migrating from an old
evolution directory without the relevant .gconf/apps/evolution/*
settings from the old evolution.

To replicate the bug:
1. create a new user account and login (this gives you default gnome
settings but not your old ones)
2. copy your 1.4 evolution directory to the new user account.
3. start evolution 2.1.4 and let it migrate. it will probably crash
when migrating Personal.

The workaround...
1. create a new user account and login (this gives you default gnome
settings but not your old ones)
2. 'gconftool-2 --shutdown'
3. rm -rf .gconf/apps/evolution
4. copy the old gconf settings for evolution over.
5. start evolution 2.1.4 and it should work.
