I am able to reproduce it in the following versions of gtkhtml:
gtkhtml2-3.6.2.0.200505251324-0.snap.novell.0.1
libgtkhtml-2.6.1-2.1

I could replicate this on my SuSE 9.3 box only with plain text.  HTML mails work
just fine.
