Description Carl Witty 2004-12-03 23:57:34 UTC
Distribution: Debian 3.1
Package: Evolution
Priority: Normal
Version: GNOME2.6.1 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Debian
Synopsis: evolution crashes on initial startup
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Miscellaneous
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.6.1.1)
Description:
Description of the crash:
When I try to run evolution-2.2 from Debian package
evolution2.2_2.1.0-1, it tries to convert my "evolution" directory to a
".evolution" directory; either in the middle of doing this, or shortly
after it finishes, it crashes. The last few things it prints are:

(evolution-2.2:6184): evolution-addressbook-WARNING **: failed to
migrate contact lists for source
file:///home/cwitty/.evolution/addressbook/local/system

(evolution-2.2:6184): evolution-addressbook-WARNING **: failed to
migrate company phone numbers for source
file:///home/cwitty/.evolution/addressbook/local/system

(evolution-2.2:6184): libecal-CRITICAL **: file e-cal.c: line 1484
(open_calendar): assertion `ecal != NULL' failed

(evolution-2.2:6184): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer
instance

(evolution-2.2:6184): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gsignal.c: line
2121 (g_signal_emit_valist): assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE
(instance)' failed

How often does this happen?
Twice in a row. The first time, I just exited the application to try
again. The second time, it gave warnings because some of my mailboxes
had already been transferred to the ".evolution" directory; I clicked
"Ignore" for each such mailbox and let it continue. This crash report
is from the second attempt.

Additional Information:
Debian x86, running with mostly "testing" packages but a few "unstable"
packages.
