Description Mike Bongard 2004-11-14 18:23:43 UTC
Please fill in this template when reporting a bug, unless you know what you
are doing.
Description of Problem:
I am unable to save images from HTML mail via a right click popup menu.
More specifically, it appears that images that are embedded in tables that
link to external websites are unable to be saved directly. The images are
visible; just unable to be saved via right-click (or any other method that
I can see within Evolution.)

The popup menu for the in-table images lists 'Open Link in Browser' and
'Copy Link Location' as the only options. For images not embedded in tables
the options are 'Save As...', 'Set As Background', 'Open in GIMP Image
Editor', and 'Open in Image Viewer.'

This was not an issue in version 1.4.6.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Receive email with images embedded in tables that link to external websites
2. Right click on displayed image

Actual Results:
No option to save the displayed image is displayed in the popup menu.

Expected Results:
An option to save the displayed image should be displayed in the popup menu.

How often does this happen?
100%

Additional Information:
I can provide a sample troublesome email message upon request.

Seems to work for me.

Comment 3 Mike Bongard 2004-11-16 01:07:58 UTC
The attachment I've submitted serves as an example of the bug I'm
describing. It was saved using Evolution's standard File->Save as...
dialog and can be imported via the File->Import wizard as a single
file successfully.

Granted, the HTML of the message isn't altogether the cleanest, but
saving images from it worked properly for me with 1.4.6 and no longer
does in 2.0.2.
Comment 4 Not Zed 2004-11-19 06:34:59 UTC
this is a new feature request, you can only save images local in the mail.
Comment 5 Mike Bongard 2004-12-20 14:57:26 UTC
I fail to see how this is a new feature request, as the functionality
described was available in a prior version of Evolution. Since it no
longer works in a subsequent version, I classify it as a 'bug.'

There is of course the possiblility that some other program was
supplying that functionality, but I doubt it. Is it possible that an
upgrade to Fedora Core 3 from Fedora Core 2 could be responsible for
this behavior?
Comment 6 Jeffrey Stedfast 2004-12-31 08:08:35 UTC
the feature has never existed, we've only ever saved images that were
attached to the email. you are asking to save images that are being
loaded from a remote web site.
Comment 7 André Klapper 2005-09-26 14:26:18 UTC
uhm, renaming since the summary is pretty vague
Comment 8 Mark Hewitt 2006-04-02 19:26:03 UTC
As I remember there was never a way to save the images directly, but you did used to be able to open them in your browser for saving. Regardless of category, this is a major pain! There's literally no way to get at these images. I get daily comic digests from which I like to archive some strips, and the lack of handling for these images is very annoying - I'm sure many people are in a similar position.
Comment 9 André Klapper 2012-01-27 17:51:40 UTC
Works correctly in Evolution 3.2.2, options for embedded remote images that are also links are:

* Open Link in Browser
* Copy Link Location
* Copy Image
* Save Image...

Closing as FIXED.
