GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 268663
"specific folders and all subfolders" Source for vFolders
Last modified: 2012-05-31 10:21:18 UTC
Distribution: Debian 3.1 Package: Evolution Priority: Major Version: GNOME2.8.1 2.0.2 Gnome-Distributor: Debian Synopsis: Can't make a virtual folder from a folder and its sub-folders Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Mailer Bugzilla-Version: 2.0.2 Description: Description of Problem: In doing a search, you can search a single folder, or a group of named folders, but you can't search a folder and all its sub-folders without including the name of each folder. Here's my problem: I have a folder "Mailing lists", with one folder for each mailing list that I'm on. I want to have a virtual folder for all mailing list messages over 1 month old, so I can delete those messages (that's what Mailman archives are for!). But I don't want to have to edit the virtual folder every time I subscribe or unsubscribe to a new mailing list. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Search -> Create Virtual folder from Search... 2. Make the search criterion "Date sent" "is before" "1 month ago". (Or, set it to "now" if you just want to test the actual bug.) 3. Select "Specific folders only" for the vfolder source. 3. In the vfolder source box, add a folder with sub-folders. Actual Results: The results will only show messages in the top-level folder -- not its sub-folders. Expected Results: All messages in the folder -- not just _directly_ in the folder -- should be shown. How often does this happen? Every time. Additional Information: Setting qa contact to the default for this product. This bug either had no qa contact or an invalid one.
adding "vfolders" keyword

Evolution lacks a useful feature: A new "specific folders and all subfolders" Source for vFolders, which would allow using entire sub-trees as a source for vFolders. Still a missing feature in 2.6.0. See bug 219327 for a similar issue (regarding search).
