GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 267974
webcal doesn't use proxy settings
Last modified: 2013-09-10 14:04:09 UTC
Please fill in this template when reporting a bug, unless you know what you are doing. Description of Problem: webcal doesn't use proxy settings Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Switch to calender 2. "New Calender", switch to web calendar type 3. Enter an URL, for example http://www.gnome.org/start/2.9/schedule.ics Actual Results: Error dialog saying connection refused Expected Results: To see GNOME 2.9 release schedule How often does this happen? Always Additional Information: My company uses proxy/firewall for http setup. Applications have to use the proxy, otherwise the firewall blocks http connections. That's why it doesn't work.
This should be fixed in 2.1.4, please re-open if not
I still see this problem in Evolution 2.2.3. Although I setup a proxy in GNOME Preferences, Evolution is trying to connect directly. System: Fedora Core 4, GNOME 2.10
Still works for me in Evolution 2.4.1 / GNOME 2.12. However, I also have http_proxy env. var. set, so I'm not sure which setting Evolution is using, GConf or env. var.
In addition to GConf, I have the following environment variables set correctly: FTP_PROXY HTTP_PROXY PROXY ftp_proxy http_proxy
at least retargetting from a very ancient milestone to an ancient milestone ;-)
retargetting bugs with severity=major from 2.3 to 2.5
Will a fix here mean Evolution adheres to all of the GNOME proxy settings (e.g. SOCKS)? If not, I'm considering opening a bug to address this issue.
Assigning it to varadhan.
Some problem here. Webcal also happens to tell me an error about the proxy when I'm not firewalled for the iCalendar taken from my bugzilla account. but then I guess this is a different issue and webcal is just not printing a good comprehensive error message (which would be in fact : you are not logged in, ...).
I have a simple proxy configuration working. My proxy is defined in Gnome settings and I can access this calendar : http://www.gnome.org/start/2.9/schedule.ics . But I have a similar proxy problem : The proxy server is configured to deny access for web server on the local network, they should be accessed without proxy. I have configured an exclude list in Gnome for local HTTP servers but Evolution webcal still tries to connect through the proxy and I get the forbidden message. Epiphany sees the exclude and work as expected, going through the proxy for internet access and connect directly to local network servers. Expected results : Evolution should see the exclude list to connect to servers on the local network without going through the proxy. System : Ubuntu edgy , Gnome 2.16.1 , Evolution 2.8.1
Same problem in 2.8.2.1: evolution is ignoring env vars and GNOME proxy settings. Epiphany is able to see and use the GNOME configuration. Gentoo-2006.1 ~x86, GNOME 2.16.2, Evolution 2.8.2.1, Evolution-data-server 1.8.2
