Description Simon Geard 2004-09-14 12:27:32 UTC
Description of Problem:
I subscribe to a number of mailing lists that are
also mirrored on an NNTP server, e.g blfs-support
at linuxfromscratch.org. When Evolution tries to
reply to messages on the mailing list that have
come from the news server, it gets confused over
whether it should be replying to news or email,
presumably due to the presence of a header
"Newsgroups: blfs.support".

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Find an email (from a POP account) that
contains a "Newsgroups:" header.
2. Select Reply

Actual Results:
Compose window appears with the "Post To:" option
filled in with a value:

mbox:/home/delgarde/.evolution/mail/local/blfs.support
The normal "To:" option does not appear.
If I try to send the message, Evolution shows a
warning that I haven't specified any recipients.
In a second dialog, it shows an error that it
can't open the non-existant folder
mbox:/home/.../mail/blfs.support.

Expected Results:
This being a local email and not a news post, the
Compose window should reply only to the email.

How often does this happen?
Every time.

Additional Information:
This occurs even though no news servers are
configured. I'm been told by someone else that it
even occurs when Evolution is built with
--disable-nntp, but haven't verified this myself.
This affects the 2.0.0 tarballs released this morning.

Oops, didn't see 60995 before I raised this. It's the same bug.
