Description of the crash:

Whenever I try to compose a message, either an original or a reply, I
get a crash.  The crash happens immediately on trying to send, and also
occurs if I just leave the compose window open for a while (range of 20
seconds to a couple minutes).  No crashes occur while just
reading/browsing messages.
