GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 261576
Mailbox Properties and Search
Last modified: 2005-05-19 12:02:51 UTC
Distribution: Debian testing/unstable Package: Evolution Priority: Normal Version: 1.4.6 Synopsis: Mailbox Properties and Search Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: UI Bugzilla-Version: 1.4.6 Description: Please describe your feature request: After spending several hours converting 530 mailboxes from mbox to maildir format, at six clicks (or five with a drag), I would like to suggest the following: 1. A means to recursively transform a tree of mail from one format to another. 2. When one mailbox is selected and another is right-clicked, the highlight stays with the original mailbox, not the newly right-clicked one. 3. The title of the mailbox property window shows a path, not a name of a mailbox, thus if you are looking at the properties of a mailbox lower down in a tree (like suppliers -> australia -> a to k -> ato), then you don't actually see enough of the name to know which box you're looking at since the dialog itself does not show the name anywhere. 4. Add a means of either setting the default mail storage format, or setting the storage format on mailbox creation. Finally, I should also note that I have 1.4Gb of mail, organised into folders. Evolution took over three minutes to launch with mbox, but half that with half the CPU/Disk load with maildir. The speed was a bonus, but the main reason for the transform was because there does not appear to be a means by which I am able to search all my mail. All I can do is search it per mailbox. I have now installed swish++, just to search my mail. Setting qa contact to the default for this product. This bug either had no qa contact or an invalid one.

Uhm, my resport was *not* about searching at all, it was about changing the mailbox format and the problems/challenges associated with that.
Sorry, wrong duplicate indeed. (And I wonder whic report is the real duplicate)
in order to destroy the UI component (as discussed with jpr and dobey), changing component to mailer.
you can no longer change the format of mail folders individually (or at all) so this bug is no longer valid
