GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 260820
automatically create folders using tags like current month and move email to
Last modified: 2005-08-23 15:56:23 UTC
Hi everyone, let me skip all the compliments about how great Evolution is and will be (things like: great job, keep on working fine etc. :-) You know that! I'd like to suggest some features that were available for the best Mail Client I was using back in 1998, Calyso Email. I find these very useful and I wish they could be added to Evolution as it would make it a better email client. 1) Calypso used to have a very advanced filter feature, that could let you file your messages using "tags" to create automatically folders. So, for example, using the tag "month", Calypso would create the folder January and file under that all the mail received in that month. Think about tags like month, day, from, account. This is not possible at the moment with evolution as the "move to" option in the filters/virtual folders does not allot to dinamically create folders. 2) An option that automatically choose which profile to send the email from. I use evolution to send email to Customers a to Friends. Sometimes I make the mistake of sending my personal email to Customers. An option "Always send email from this account" on the Contact page, based on category or other information would be really nice. 3) It would be very nice to be able to add a note to a mail messages I have received. Sometimes we need to write down a little note which would help us to keep track of customers-friends. This note could be related to the mail message or to the person we are mailing with. 4) A way to quickly access to all the mail sent/received to/from the contact we are writing to. Sometimes it's hard to find old emails we need to read to best reply a customer. I know this would take Evolution closer to come CRM concepts, and I don't know if this is the direction you want to take. I also know that there are some usability and consistency issues I'm probably not aware of. Please just take it as a contriubute, and as an attempt to help you in your work Thanks Alessandro
hi alessandro, first of all: you will receive a lot more attention if you file seperate wishlist bugs because assigning gets much easier and searching also (if everyone would call his report "new features", it would become very hard to find anything in bugzilla ;-). (2) is a duplicate of bug 215161. (3) is a duplicate of bug 255032. (4) is easily doable by using the search bar or by setting up vfolders. if you're content with my comment, i suggest to change the subject to reflect your first wish which i haven't seen before in bugzilla... :-) cheers, andre
ok, finally changing the subject as written four months ago :-)
1) is a dup of bug 210341 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 210341 ***
