Description Björn Torkelsson 2004-05-20 08:55:21 UTC
In the calendar I can open and edit a birthday event (From Birthdays and
Anniversaries), as the event is "readonly" saving is disabled. However when
I close the event I get the unsaved dialog with save enabled. When hitting
save I get another dialog saying "Unknown error". If I do the same thing
with an event in a, readonly, webcal calendar I get a "Permission denied"
message instead.

What should be the correct behaviour?

1) Save should be disabled?
2) Save should be turned into Save as?
3) I should get a "Permission denied", as I get when I try to save, for
instance, an edited event in a webcal calendar?
4) the behaviour is correct?

Evolution built with jhbuild from anoncvs on May 19.

Reassingning to design team and setting milestone
Comment 2 Anna Marie Dirks 2004-06-18 14:52:49 UTC
Save should be enabled. Please make it so, development team.
Reassigning to the calendar maintainers.
Comment 3 Anna Marie Dirks 2004-06-18 15:32:30 UTC
Ugh. Ok. Apparently I've totally misunderstood this bug.

What we actually need to do is to find a way to indicate that read
only items are, in fact, read only.

We'll do this with an icon, which we display in the option menu for
the source.

We need such an icon. I'm reassigning this to Tigert and Jakub, so
that one of them can draw such an icon. Tigert and Jakub, we're
looking for a 16 x 16 icon which conveys "read only". Please. Thank you.
Comment 4 Rodrigo Moya 2004-06-18 16:11:52 UTC
I think this is already fixed, since we disable all widgets that mean
modification of the event when it's a read-only source. I've added now
code to not ask the user if she wants to save the event when using
read only sources. Is that correct?
Comment 5 Björn Torkelsson 2004-06-19 14:21:37 UTC
Yes it is fixed in the sense that I don't get any "save" question
anymore. On the other hand it would be nice to be able to change some
properties of read only events locally, without having to create a
copy of the event. For instace to add or remove reminders.

In the case of birthdays and anniversaries it would be nice if I could
add reminders for all birthdays in the properties dialog.
Comment 6 Gerardo Marin 2004-06-21 19:54:16 UTC
Now it's a wishlist item :-)
Comment 7 André Klapper 2005-07-19 18:30:23 UTC
changing component to "Calendar" to get rid of the UI component, also reassigning
as discussed with nags... adding UI keyword.

Comment 9 Milan Crha 2009-07-09 16:51:11 UTC
As far as I understand this bug it's only about a possibility to set an alarm on the birthday&anniversary calendar. That had been done as a global option within bug #260853, thus marking as a duplicate.
