Description gs 2004-05-15 01:48:13 UTC
Description of Problem:

Evolution keeps locking up with "Formatting Message" on the bottom status
bar, and the only way to get it back to normal is to quit and reload evolution.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Basically just click around a few messages, and soon enough it will say
formatting message and that's the end of the evolution experience for that
session

Actual Results:

Evolution renders unusable until its reloaded.

Expected Results:

Evolution should keep working as per normal.

How often does this happen?

VERY frequently. Every 5-10 minutes?

Additional Information:

I know there is a bug already for this problem (#57429) and I did make a
reply on it (even though it was opened by someone else), but it seems until
the bug is re-opened, nobody will take notice of it. Since I am not the
owner of the bug report, I'm not able to re-open it so I thought I'd create
a new one. Apologies if that wasn't the right course of action.

Also, FYI, I'm running the following versions of gtkhtml:

$ rpm -qa|grep gtkhtml|sort
gnome-python2-gtkhtml2-1.99.14-5
gtkhtml-1.1.8-5
gtkhtml2-2.2.0-5
gtkhtml3.0-3.0.10-0.ximian.6.1
gtkhtml3.1-3.1.13.0.200405111448-0.snap.ximian.6.1
libgtkhtml20-1.0.4-2.ximian.1
libgtkhtml3.0_2-3.0.9-0.ximian.6.1
libgtkhtml3.0_4-3.0.10-0.ximian.6.1
libgtkhtml3.1_7-3.1.13.0.200405111448-0.snap.ximian.6.1

Thank you in advance for any help in fixing this bug.

bug 256479 is still open, so hopefully it'll get fixed sometime. The
workaround is to set "Never load messages from internet" in Tools >
Settings > Mail Preferences > HTML Mail > Loading images

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 256479 ***
