Description Avery Fay 2004-01-16 08:44:01 UTC
Description of Problem:

When I click on a mail folder I'd like it to
automatically jump to the oldest unread message.
Or at least there could be a setting to allow this.

reassigning jpr's old evolution\miscellaneous bugs to harish
Comment 2 Pacho Ramos 2008-09-21 13:14:50 UTC
I also miss a lot this feature, usually evolution autojumps to first message and it's really hard to scroll to first unread message manually as I have a lot of messages on my box
Comment 3 Patrick OCallaghan 2009-10-29 12:41:52 UTC
That would be better than the current policy, but you lose the position of the last message you were looking at, assuming it's now been marked as Read.

Also, instead of "oldest unread" I would prefer "first unread", as defined by the folder sort order rather than date. The user orders the folder by some preferred criterion and that should be taken into account. Even the concept of "oldest" isn't clear (sent date?, arrival order?). Note that "first" also depends on the whether the folder is sorted in increasing or decreasing order.

Same as bug 559144, and closing as WONTFIX for the same reason.
