Description David Richards 2003-11-21 14:30:49 UTC
Please, how about a keystroke for "Empty Trash" so that you can do it with
the keyboard. Currently that function has no shortcut.

Control-DELETE, Alt-DELETE, or Shift-DELETE?
Comment 1 Gerardo Marin 2003-11-27 20:22:18 UTC
ctrl-e
Comment 2 Gerardo Marin 2003-11-27 20:23:15 UTC
Am I misunderstanding something? Otherwise this is not a bug...
(Please reopen if needed)
Comment 3 Gerardo Marin 2003-11-29 00:26:11 UTC
I DID misunderstand. Clarified via e-mail.
Reopening.
Comment 4 aaron 2003-12-09 23:14:31 UTC
Ctrl-E only empties the trash for the current folder-- Empty trash
would expunge all folders. Sounds like if Ctrl-E is expunge,
Ctrl-Shift-E should be "expunge all" (on the theory that "shift" means
"do it more").
Comment 5 Not Zed 2005-05-19 06:30:59 UTC
dobey can you finalise a decision here

this is a simple yes/no
Comment 6 Rodney Dawes 2005-08-09 18:21:22 UTC
Control-Shift-foo typically means doing the opposite of Control-foo.
Control-Alt-E might be acceptable. What about just getting rid of "Expunge" and
just always doing "Empty Trash" instead? Is there a noticeable performance hit
if we do that?
Comment 7 David Richards 2005-08-09 18:45:07 UTC
I would think that one would use Empty-Trash far more than Expunge. I would
vote for this change. That keeps users out of the UI and pulldowns to empty
their trash and lowers the chance they will click on something else.

adding dependency
Comment 9 André Klapper 2005-12-31 20:53:24 UTC
control+shift+e is "new meeting" currently.
Comment 10 André Klapper 2006-01-06 15:21:00 UTC
assigning dobey's evo UI bugs to srag as he is the UI guy now. :-)
Comment 11 Jorge Bernal "Koke" 2006-03-06 21:23:14 UTC
Another suggestion: <control><shift>Delete.

It's taken from the OSX finder behaviour: Delete for "move to trash", C-S-Delete to empty trash.

Actually I thought this bug was for nautilus, but anyway the chosen keystroke sould be the same for both apps.
Comment 12 lexual 2006-09-15 00:16:35 UTC
I'd like to point out the inconsistency with ctrl+e, and the hig guideline on keyboard shortcuts conflicting with the emacs shortcuts.

Closing....old issue.
