Description Michael Wolf 2003-09-28 17:06:57 UTC
Most of the time, I do not have evolution load images, since they may be
loaded off of remote servers (which says to the spammer, "i read this, or
at least i exist, send me more gunk"). However, sometimes I do want to
load the images.

It would be sweet if there were some UI to teach evolution to load images
coming with some mails automatically. Maybe this could be added as a
filter action. For example: if sender = Foo and subject = bar, then load
images.

This sounds like feature-creep to me.

I always liked Netscape's right click menu for this.

Right click -> load this image
Comment 4 Michael Wolf 2004-04-28 22:06:03 UTC
I agree, but it's work. And we have these noisy computer things to
automate work when possible, right? :)
Comment 5 Rodney Dawes 2005-02-07 23:33:23 UTC
And deep in the bowels of the machine, there is an option "Only load
Images when Sender in Address Book". You should use that, and add
people to your address book. :)
Comment 6 Michael Wolf 2005-02-09 22:52:11 UTC
Good point, but that doesn't help in these cases:

* You receive mail from someone who uses commercial mailing software
that uses a slightly different From: each time (this is what prompted
me to open the bug)
* You receive mail from someone who uses software such as tmda, which
can create temporary addresses

Evolution 3.2 offers to "Automatically download images in emails from people you know" - see http://library.gnome.org/users/evolution/stable/mail-displaying-images-in-html.html

Closing as RESOLVED WONTFIX as I don't see what else would be realistically useful. Cannot imagine that filtering on the subject would really help.
