Description prensing 2003-07-16 16:16:57 UTC
Package: Evolution
Priority: Normal
Version: 1.4.3
Synopsis: Keybindings incorrectly trapped by menus
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Mailer

Description:
Description of Problem:
I have my GNOME default key bindings set to "Emacs". In editing a new
mail message, "cntl-a" does not do "goto-beginning-of-line" as it
should, but rather ends up doing "select-all". Other key sequences which
are menu accelerators are also problematic. As I understand it, this is
because the Menu framework is trapping the keys before the HTML widget
can see it.

I am filing this against Evolution/Mail because, AFAIK, GTKHtml is
working fine but it never sees the "cntl-a".

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Set GNOME default key binding to Emacs
2. Start Evolution
3. Create a new message
4. Type a little text in the body.
5. Press "cntl-a"

Actual Results:

The entire text in the body is highlighted.

Expected Results:

The cursor should move to the beginning of the line.

How often does this happen?

Always.
