Description dnovillo 2003-06-10 12:27:05 UTC
Package: Evolution
Priority: Major
Version: GNOME2.2.2 1.4.0
os_details: Ximian, Inc.
Synopsis: POP3 fails to retrieve mail from my ISP
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Mailer
Description:
Description of Problem:

While connecting to my ISP (Bell Sympatico), the POP3 connection times
out with an I/O error and fails to retrieve mail.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Create a POP3 account to pop2.sympatico.ca
2. Click 'Send/Receive'

Actual Results:

After a while, a window pops up saying I/O Error, can't connect to
server. The server is working fine because I can get mail using
fetchmail.

Expected Results:

Mail in my inbox.

How often does this happen?

All the time.

Additional Information:

I see the following message in ~/.xsession-errors,

(evolution-1.4:3324): camel-pop3-provider-WARNING **: Bad server
response: DELE, LIST, NOOP, RETR, RSET, STAT, TOP, UIDL or QUIT

I then tried to change the account from POP3 into 'Local delivery', but
evolution does not move mail from /var/spool/mail/<user>. I will file
that as a separate report.

Setting qa contact to the default for this product.
This bug either had no qa contact or an invalid one.

I think this is a duplicate
Comment 2 Jeffrey Stedfast 2003-06-10 17:56:18 UTC
yea, it's a dup of the "my pop server is a hunk of non-standards
compliant crud" report
