GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 241288
shortcut bar not keyboard accessible
Last modified: 2004-09-29 20:42:56 UTC
currently I find evoltuion-1.3 nearly unusable without a mouse. For example, Shortcut Bar and Toolbar are not key-navigable, i.e., they are not include in the tab switch circle.
OK, it seems Toolbar can be accessed with keyboard, but I haven't found a reliable and intuitive way to do it... Shortcut bar still inaccessible.
I forget what the key sequence is to access the toolbar with the keyboard, but even if we didn't have that, it wouldn't make the application not keyboard accessible since all the operations can be performed using the menus. Anyways, please try to be more specific and file bugs about specific things that can't be done with the keyboard. (I think most of them are filed already anyways.)
Sorry for not being more specific in the beginning. I've changed the title. Did you seriously try using evolution for a while without reaching for your mouse? For your information, I usually enable Shortcut Bar and disable Folder Bar. In this setup, with both 41288 and 41289 open, there is virtually no way to select a folder without using a mouse:-( I would be really sad if the Shortcut Bar remains keyboard inaccessible...
Shortcut bar is not accesible by any means usink keyboard only navigation. Tab order (when starting in mail, with mail selected) is message, links within message, folder bar, toolbar, toolbar elements -latest selected- search bar (message contains, string field), back to messages. While this may be an accesbilty issue, I'm downing it to minor since mouse does the job.
Shortcut bar is deprecated in 1.5, this report is no longer valid. Only security fixes will go in to 1.4.x at this point. Marking WONTFIX.
