GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 236592
INBOX filters do not work on IMAP Server
Last modified: 2003-02-22 03:04:09 UTC
Please fill in this template when reporting a bug, unless you know what you are doing. Description of Problem: Inbox filters are not automatically applied to a UW Imap Inbox Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Check 'Apply filters to new messages in INBOX on this server' 2. Receive new email in the IMAP Inbox 3. Actual Results: All mail stays in the INBOX. Running the Filters Manually [Ctrl+V] works fine. Expected Results: Mail in IMAP Inbox is sorted upon arrival. How often does this happen? All the Time Additional Information: I am using the UW IMAP-SSL Daemon
the problem is 1 of the following: 1) you have a mailcheck applet running which screws up filtering because evo's imap filtering depends on the fact that evo is the first client to "see" the new messages (ie, we depend on a \Recent flag to know if it is new or not) 2) your server just plain sucks and isn't sending them to us. there's already another "bug" saying we should maybe try to work around this problem, but more likely we will just have to tell people to setup server-side filters because imap client-side filtering is a kludge at best no matter what client you use.
