Description Andre Spiegel 2002-11-22 20:24:51 UTC
I'm using Evolution with the popular eazel/crux theme, as provided by
gtk-engines-eazel version 0.3-4 in Debian. The problem is that some of the
text in Evolution becomes unreadable because its color is hardly different
from the background. In particular, this is the text of the highlighted
line in the message list (the background color is #4a7173, which makes it
hard to read the black text; other applications flip the color of
highlighted text to white), and the text in the area above the message
list, where the folder name and the number of messages are displayed (the
text is white there, and the background is #dedfde, which makes the text
almost indiscernible).

Since all the other applications make their text white or black to achieve
better contrast when appropriate, I believe this is an Evolution problem.

I would attach a screenshot to this report, but there doesn't seem to be an
option for this here in Bugzilla. I can send it via e-mail if needed.

Thanks for looking into this.

This is a theme bug. Marking it as a dup of 6032 which is the exact
same bug. There is a fix there for the gtkrc of the eazel-blue theme
which should also apply to Crux.

[Bug seems to have reopened without my comments. So here they are again.]

The patch for bug 206032 corrects part of the problem, but not all. The
message list is now fine, but the area *above* the message list still
remains almost white-on-white. This is the area where "0 new, 1
selected, 303 total" is displayed, for example. Please have a look at
the screenshot I attached to this bug originally.

I've had a look at Crux's gtkrc file but couldn't see where these
colors might be defined.

Thanks for the good work and for your help.

It looks like it may be slightly more of an issue with crux there
also. I am not sure. However, evolution in CVS HEAD has this bar
themeable now, assuming the theme is done correctly. It uses
bg[ACTIVE] for the color. I'm marking this as a dup of 7405.
