GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 232458
Not parsing PGP signed or encrypted messages that come from Microsoft Outlook users
Last modified: 2002-10-17 19:14:51 UTC
Package: Evolution Priority: Normal Version: 1.1.2 Synopsis: Not parsing PGP signed or encrypted messages that come from Microsoft Outlook users Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Mailer Description: Microsoft outlook produced messages that are PGP signed and/or encrypted are not being properly parsed by evolution. An example of one such messages headers is as follows: Return-Path: <omitted> Delivered-To: me@localhost Received: (qmail 20552 invoked from network); 17 Oct 2002 17:08:03 -0000 Received: from localhost (127.0.0.1) by OMITTED with SMTP; 17 Oct 2002 17:08:03 -0000 Delivered-To: me@whatever Received: from SOMEBOX [SOMEIP] by localhost with POP3 (fetchmail-6.1.0) for me@localhost (single-drop); Thu, 17 Oct 2002 13:08:03 -0400 (EDT) Received: (qmail 18204 invoked from network); 17 Oct 2002 16:51:30 -0000 Received: from REMOTEHOST (SOMEIP) by SOME_OTHER_IP with SMTP; 17 Oct 2002 16:51:30 -0000 From: someone <sombody@somehere.com> To: "Anybody" <me@someisp.com> Subject: foo Date: Thu, 17 Oct 2002 13:01:27 -0400 Message-ID: <000a01c275fe$d6342600$1802a8c0@someisp> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Priority: 3 (Normal) X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook, Build 10.0.4024 Sensitivity: Private Importance: Normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2800.1106 X-Evolution-Source: imap://me@localhost/ =20 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Any old text -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP 8.0 (Build 294) Beta Any PGP sig -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- The message is displayed, but the PGP tags are not parsed by evolution, so it does nothing about the signature and/or encrypted messages and the message must be manually checked and/or decrypted. Evolution <-> Evolution PGP/GPG mail works fine, as does PGP/GPG mail to and from some other clients. It would be nice if evolution would parse "old style" PGP message markings, or a FAQ was available on how to work around this problem (maybe a filter, procmail recipe, etc.) It appears that outlook/PGP plugins produce this format by default. Unknown reporter: ximian@shinn.net, changed to bugbuddy-import@ximian.com. Setting qa contact to the default for this product. This bug either had no qa contact or an invalid one.
we only support the method of pgp signing described in rfc3156 (which is the standard). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 217540 ***
