GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 229571
make file selector remember directories based on last mime-type
Last modified: 2012-06-27 00:29:58 UTC
As far as I can tell, none of the mailer's file selector dialog can remember what directories they should start in. That's really lame. A cool thing to emulate would be galeon's per-mimetype directories for saving files. And then I guess just use one directory for opening files.
most of them already do. I remember adding this a while back, before 1.0 even I thought.
I've never noticed this working. FWIW, the ones where I particularly notice it are saving and adding attachments -- did you not do those?
Ok, the "add attachment" dialog only saves it for the current composer, not the current session or between sessions. Save attachment works across sessions, but not by mime-type, which is a very nice feature.
personally I think this is just a waste but whatever.
bug 248315 also mentions remembering the last file selector position

updating version number
Bumping version to a stable release.
First step would be to make file selector remember last directory at all, e.g. in the Importer. Dreaming of MIME types sounds like overhead here.
We defer to GTK+ now, which remembers for all applications. Closing as WONTFIX.
