Description Dan Winship 2002-08-19 18:11:51 UTC
In the first-time wizard, you can "Next" past the timezone selector
without picking a timezone
Comment 1 André Klapper 2005-01-20 13:02:56 UTC
well, the preselected value is "UTC" which makes sense to be, so i
would regard this as solved. but i have to say that the option "None"
which is also available in the dropdown list does not make sense at all.
please reschedule this.
Comment 2 André Klapper 2005-04-17 00:57:49 UTC
could also be solved when solving bug 235691
Comment 3 Srinivasa Ragavan 2006-06-14 07:53:28 UTC
Currently the NONE is removed and default is set to the current timezone configured in the system.
Comment 4 Harish Krishnaswamy 2006-06-14 08:10:39 UTC
The patch borks the build.

Sigh..this was a new api added to libical. sorry for the spam.
srag: can u please keep me in the loop for a review while adding new interfaces in core libraries henceforth.
Comment 6 Murray Cumming 2007-09-06 10:46:41 UTC
But why does it even ask for a timezone? What's wrong with just using the system timezone?
Comment 7 André Klapper 2007-09-06 11:01:31 UTC
murray, evo has a timezone setting apart from the system timezone, it makes sense when travelling and if you don't want to change the entire system time, but only the evo times, i'd say. i'm not in favour of that, but according to other bug reports here that's what users want, and if you're not in your "home timezone" when running evo for the first time this can be useful.
Comment 8 Murray Cumming 2007-09-06 11:13:33 UTC
Then that should be explained in the wizard. I think it also should not even be in the wizard because it's so rare to want to change that.

I'm pretty sure that when we originally wrote the code, we thought there was no easy way to figure out an evo/ical timezone that matched the system timezone. If that's changed, then yeah, there's no reason to still have the timezone selector in the first-time wizard.
