Version: 1.0.8
Synopsis: Wishlist: Calendar month difficult to see
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Calendar

Description:
Hi! This is not really a bug as much as a wish list...

While looking at the calendar view in Evolution, it is somewhat
difficult to find which month it is that I am viewing. Would it be
possible to put, for example, a big "September" -- for example --
somewhere in the Calendar month-view? As of now I only see "31 August -
04 October 2002" which is a bit difficult to comprehend when speaking to
a client on the phone and trying to juggle several things at once.

Otherwise, awesome app! I love evolution!!

in 2.1.5 the month name is only shown in the little date navigator in
the upper right corner. to me this is not wishlist, but fairly minor.

in 2.11.92 I see in month view 3 dates, non-actual months are grayed, actual month is white. First shown day in each month is named, so I have on the first line:
"27 August ... 01 September ..." and on the last line "01 October..." and days from August and October are grayed, September days are white. In a small calendar on the left is written "September 2007", all days chosen.
I know, it's nothing special, but when one got a habit with it, then that's fine. Or you think it isn't?

Bumping version to a stable release.
Comment 6 Akhil Laddha 2009-08-28 07:50:20 UTC
please check comment#4

This version is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any
further security or bug fix updates.
The current stable GNOME and Evolution version is 2.26.

Can you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution 2.24
or 2.26 and update this report by adding a comment and changing the "Version"
field? Thanks a lot.

Again thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed
for the version you originally used here.

Without feedback this report will be closed as INCOMPLETE in 6 weeks.

I can't reopen myself and maybe it would make sense to open a new one. Using Evolution 2.28 I still find it difficult to use the month view because it's hard to know which month I'm currently seeing. Month name is currently displayed in small font on the first column, but when you have multiple events it's not immediately visible.

Other calendars (Thunderbird/Lighthing, Outlook, iOS, Android) display it prominently in the header.

When displaying the June month, on top of the side bar I have displayed (in French) “30 avril - 03 juin 2018” which is not really helpful for month view. It might make more sense to display a larger “Juin 2018” instead (and keep the interval for week views).
