Description gabrieltalks 2002-06-27 23:13:10 UTC
These features are from Lotus Organizer 6.0

If possible try it to get a true feel for it
http://www.lotus.com/products/organizer5.nsf

Many of extra features are just fluff but the diary functions are not.
Many people use their organizers for recording phone calls, expenses,
notes, and a daily work record. Features common to Day-Timers too.

I have used MS Outlook and many other organizers and no matter how many
"features" a program has I have yet to find anything to matched Lotus
Organizer for record keeping.

A typical scenario
1) goto a contact in contacts
2) right click
3) select create a phone record
4) calls up new phone record dialog with the contact/date information
already filled in
5) optional timer can be started
6) fill in notes on conversation
7) save record

And...
When looking in the day record, phone calls can (user selectable) be listed
separately for that day.
When looking at a contact a list of phone calls to that person are listed.
When looking at the phone call list I can then look up information on that
person.

Looking at the structure of the Evolution all the pieces are there to for
the addition of a diary/note just like how appointments are made. Actually
three, expense record, phone record, and a diary record. Using hidden
categories (e.g., Contact:Jane Doe, Task:Phone) you can easily interlink
the information. Using a "namespace" approach either the program or the
user can look up the information and it is standardize and easily extendable.

Yes, this can be done now by creating special categories but it would be
just as difficult as it was in Outlook.

Evolve beyond just creating a MS Outlook clone.

marking as duplicate. it's not exactly the same, but i won't differentiate too
much between "do everything like lotus organizer", "do everything like claris
organizer" and "don't do everything like ms outlook".
reopen if you disagree, but i could also mark it as a duplicate of bug 250766, i
think.
dirty bug triaging, dirty. :-)
